CONTINUING his fine form, Aditya Yaul stormed into the U-11 singles final of Maharashtra Sub-Junior State Badminton Championship under way at Ratnagiri. In the U-13 semis, Yaul lost to Yash Sinha of Thane.
In the U-11 quarters, Yaul beat Sabtainraza Somji of Pune 21-09, 21-07 and in semis he got the better of Pragnay Shinde of Palghar 21-15, 21-11. Yaul will play against Pratham Raut of Palghar in the final.
This will be his third final in a row for Yaul in State tournaments. In the U-11 girls doubles, Sanvi Ghate and Vaishnavi Manglekar made it to the final. In U-13 quarter-finals, Yaul beat Archit Vyas of Pune 21-07, 21-08 but in semis Yaul lost to Yash Sinha of Thane 18-21, 18-21. Mayank Rajput and his partner from Palghar made it to the U-11 boys doubles final and will play top seed Ashlon Pinto and Pragnay Shinde of Palghar.
Mayank Rajput lost U-11 boys singles semi-final to his partner Pratham Raut of Palghar 09-21, 07-21.
In U-13 boys singles quarters, Sairaj Nayse lost to Raghvendra Yadav of Pune 16-21, 21-19, 13-21 while in doubles semis, Sairaj and Aarav Thakre lost to top seed Ayush Adey and Sachet Tripathi of Pune 08-21, 11-21.
In girls singles U-13 semis, Fiza Akbani lost to 2nd seed Gatha Suryawanshi of Raigad 14-21, 08-21. In doubles semis, Fiza and her partner Yashvi Patel of Pune lost to top seed Gatha Suryawanshi of Raigad and Pranjal Shinde of Palghar.
