FORMER MLA of Manendragarh assembly Deepak Patel passed away on Tuesday night at Community Health Centre, Bada Bazar, Chirmiri. The last rites were performed on Wednesday at Bada Bazar Muktidham. Wave of mourning spread in the area as thousands of his supporters bid him their farewell.

Patel was MLA from 2008 to 2013and was also BJP State Vice President. As the training in-charge for State, he was constantly working to familiarise the workers with the BJP’s ideology. On Tuesday, at 6:00 am, he was admitted to the hospital for treatment, where in view of his deteriorating health, doctors had advised him to be taken to Raipur, but before he could be taken to Raipur, his health started deteriorating. He breathed last at 8:30 pm. After the news spread in the area, a crowd of mourners started gathering at the residence of the late MLA.
