Behind every happy parent is a truly amazing son/daughter who fulfills their dreams by surpassing all the odds and this in turn showcases the grit and determination of the family as a whole. Superintendent of Police (SP) Vishal Anand Singuri, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of 2014 batch, perfectly fits the description mentioned above.
Vishal’s father Arjun Prasad Singuri had always aspired to serve the country in the capacity of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) or IPS. However, senior Singuri could not chase the dream as family obligations and some problems in early career made him drop the plans. But, for him it was a cherishing moment 30 years later to see his son don the Khaki after Vishal cracked the tough Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam and was shortlisted for IPS.
Vishal Anand on Thursday took charge as Superintendent of Police (SP) Nagpur District police unit. Prior to this he was serving as Aide De Camp (ADC) to the Governor of Maharashtra for nearly four years.
A native of Hyderabad, Vishal Graduated in engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee. He was trained from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) as a Police Officer. Law enforcement, using scientific aids in investigation, cyber security, investigating financial frauds are some of the subjects that the new SP specialises in.
While speaking with ‘The Hitavada’, Vishal Anand said that his passion to become an IPS officer was inculcated by his father who retired as a Central Government employee. His mother Kalpana is a banker and sister Anusha Madhuri is a Doctor and lives in Chandrapur. Vishal is married to Sri Leena who has done MD (Pathology).
Born on May 15, 1987, Vishal Anand said that this would be the first independent charge of his career and focus remains on people centric approach.
After completing training from SVPNPA, Vishal completed his probation period from Ahmednagar district 2016. Later, he was appointed as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ambejogai in Beed district from 2017 January to 2018 August. Soon after he was posted as Additional SP Pandharpur for a week as he was posted as ADC to Governor of the State. Vishal recalled the first major detection of a blind murder case while serving in Beed district. A 70-year-old man was brutally killed by four unidentified persons. After working on the murder case for 48 hours, Vishal managed to apprehend the accused persons.
The new SP is liberal about leaves for the police personnel and stated that it is the right of every person to get a leave if there is no emergency. "I don't like to punish people for leaves,” he opined Revealing his future plans, the SP said that staffing patterns in the district would be changed soon. “I want the right person at the right seat,” he stated. Providing good quality living to the policemen is also his top priority.
