St John’s High School, Mohan Nagar, Indian Friends Football Club ‘A’ Chankapur and Nobel Sports Academy stormed into the semi-finals of the ongoing Baby League Under-12 Seven-A-Side Football Tournament organised by St Mary’s Football Academy at St Mary’s School ground in Jafar Nagar on Friday.
In the first quarter-final, Nobel Sports Academy (NSA) scored the winner in the last minute as they pipped Kick Soccer India ‘A’, Koradi 3-2 in a five-goal thriller. Akshay Pandey scored two goals for Nobel Sports Academy while Vedant Thakur scored the winner at the stroke of final whistle. Nirbhay Bange and Ved Bagle scored for Kick Soccer India.
In another last eight match, St John’s High School boys, coached by Savio Anthony, blanked hosts St Mary’s Football Academy 2-0 to make it to the last four of the competition. It was again dependable Moses Joseph who scored two goals in each half of play. In another match, IFFC ‘A’ got the better of Ansari Academy 3-2 via tie-beaker after both the teams failed to score in the regulation time.
In the tie-breaker, Umar Khan, Zaid Khan and Moulik Virani scored for IFFC ‘A’ while for Ansari Academy, Mohd Adiyan and Anas Khan managed to send the ball across the goal line.
In the semi-final on Saturday, St John’s will take on IFFC ‘A’ at 3 pm while NSA will play the second semi-final.
Their opponent will be decided later as Deputy Director Sports and Youth Services Sports Academy ‘A’ lodged protest against Sneha FC after losing their match. The decision will be taken on Saturday morning, informs Amit Anthony, one of the organisers of the tournament.
