Lakhs throng Deekshabhoomi for Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Din

After remaining silent for last two years because of coronavirus pandemic, this year lakhs of devotees have come out to pay respects to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar at holy Deekshabhoomi to mark the Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Din to be observed on Wednesday. For last two years, the devotees responded to a call given by administration not to crowd Deekshabhoomi.
This year, Nagpur is witnessing a large number of devotees reaching city by bus, train and other vehicles from last three days. People have not only come from the corners of Maharashtra but also from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and some other states. This is for the first time that people from other states, too, have come to Nagpur to pay respects to their beloved Babasaheb and Lord Gautam Buddha.
Vilas Gajghate, Member of Param Pujya Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti informed ‘The Hitavada’, “This time Nagpur will witness historic turnout at Deekshabhoomi. People coming from other states in large number in buses is happening for the first time. There is a long queue of buses near Deekshabhoomi by which people reached Nagpur. A group of 180 people has come by chartered flight to visit the Deekshabhoomi.”
All the roads from four directions reaching Deekshabhoomi have taken a form of sea of devotees. The vehicular movement has almost come to standstill. Several organisations have set up their stalls where the food is being served to the devotees. The stalls of books and others too are attracting the crowd.
Meanwhile the traditional programme of Dhammachakra Pravartan Din at Deekshabhoomi will be held at 6 pm. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis will be chief guests. Bhadant Arya Nagarjun Surai Sasai, President of Param Pujya Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti will preside over the function.
All arrangements have been made for the devotees in Deekshabhoomi premises. Buddha Vihar Committees too have come forward to make staying arrangements for the people coming from outside. The main programme will be telecast live on Sahyadri, Awaz India and UCN channel.
Dragon Palace, Kamptee
Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale inaugurated multimedia exhibition on ‘Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar- Mahamanavacha Jeevan Pravas’ at Dragon Palace, Kamptee. President of Ogava Society and ex-Minister Sulekha Kumbhare was present at the function. Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Central Bureau of Communication and Ogava Society, Dragon Palace, Kamptee had jointly organised the exhibition. In-charge Assistant Director of Central Bureau of Communication Hansraj Raut has honoured Ramdas Athawale and Sulekha Kumbhare with memento.
Main programme of Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Din will be held at Dragon Palace at 11 am where Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis, State BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule will remain present. Deekshabhoomi Smarak Samiti Member Dr Rajendra Gavai, Buddha Representative of Government of India Rinchen Lamo, MLA of Kamptee Tekchand Savarkar will grace the occasion. Adv Sulekha Kumbhare will preside over.
Rojgar Melava of Bagap
Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Global Association of Professional (BAGAP) has organised a ‘Rojgar Melava’ at BANAI hall, Dr Ambedkar Sanskrutik Bhavan, Wardha road on October 6 for the unemployed of Vidarbha and on October 7 for the people in Nagpur city and rural part. The convention being organised by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar National Association of Engineers (BANAI).
