Dussehra festival which marks victory of good over evil was celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety in the State capital on Wednesday.
Thousands of people reached the venues to witness ‘Ravana Dahan but due to rainfall on Wednesday, the organisers had to make a lot of effort to burn effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkarna and Meghnad.
Effigy of Ravana was burnt at Chhola Dussehra ground at 11.25 minutes. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan was to reach here but due to bad weather, by the time he reached by road from Ujjain, the crowd had gone. This was done by Collector Avinash Lavania and ACP Sachin Atulkar Vijay Tilak, on this occasion the convenor of the function Dharmendra Parwar was also present.
Dussehra was celebrated with all pomp at Minal Residence. Here Ravana was burnt with vigorous casteism, which became the centre of attraction. At the same time, in TT Nagar Dussehra ground, the spark of fireworks fell towards the crowd, causing a stampede. When Ravana did not burn even after pouring kerosene diesel, the organisers threw him on the ground. Ravana also had to face trouble in burning on the Dussehra ground in Mail.
Dussehra festival was celebrated at more than 15 places of the city in the capital. At the same time, in small colonies, the committees burnt Ravana. In which the citizens of the city along with the enlightened people participated with enthusiasm. Ram Ravana war was staged all over the city Uttan, instead of being good, Rama killed the evil symbols of Ravana, Meghnad and Kumbhakarna. Ravana was burnt by the TT Nagar Dussehra Utsav Samiti at the Dussehra Ground in New Market. Governor Mangubhai Patel, Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang, MLA PC Sharma, Mayor Malti Rai were specially present on the occasion. On this occasion, Vishwas Sarang said that the festival of Vijayadashmi is the victory of good over evil. We all should take a pledge to follow the path of truth. There was fireworks.
‘Ravana Dahan’ was organised on the occasion of Vijayadashmi by Bittan Market Dussehra Utsav Samiti. Effigy of demon Ravana was burnt by Lord Rama at 9 pm. Attractive fireworks was also enjoyed by the public on this occasion, it remained the centre of attraction for hundreds of people.
Effigy of Ravana of 51 feet burnt in Kolar: During the grand event organised by the Kolar Dussehra Utsav Samiti, effigy of Ravana of 51 feet was burnt in the presence of hundreds of people. Special arrangement was made for fireworks here too, which was enjoyed by the people.
