HARD work and dedication can overtake all barriers of achievement setting new benchmark for the next mission. With this notion being his sole objective, Chaman Lal Kose of Patan in Durg District has left for his new mission of hoisting the flag of Chhattisgarh Olympic at Mount Friendship Peak of Himachal Pradesh. This peak is 17,353 ft high in Solang Valley of State.
Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Gau Seva Aayog Mahant Dr Ramsunder Das flagged off Chaman Lal Kose and his team and extended his best wishes for the success of the peak summit. With faith and courage in mind, he has set-out for the 10-day mission to climb Mount Friendship Peak, which stands at an elevation of 17,353 feet (5,289 meters). Besides, 10 days of trekking, Chaman will trek around 24 kilometres during this time.
Mount Friendship Peak is located in the Pir Panjal Mountain Range of Himachal Pradesh’s Solang Valley. Chaman’s main objective behind hoisting of the Chhattisgarh Olympic Flag is to on the Mount Friendship Peak is to spread awareness and promote Chhattisgarh Olympics through adventure sports. The State Sports and Youth Welfare Department has extended necessary support for this special campaign. It is worth mentioning that Chaman Lal Kose will conquer the peak through Alpine Climbing Technique and Winter Expedition. Climbing with Alpine Technique usually has only one or two climbers go for their mission to complete the expedition. It is the highest challenge grade in mountaineering. On the other hand, winter expedition is mainly tougher and the mountaineer has to be additionally skilled to counter different aspects of mountaineering in winter season. Winter expeditions undertaken by less than one per cent of mountaineers and Chaman Lal Kose will be the first person from Chhattisgarh to participate in a National Level Winter Expedition. ‘Mountain Man’ from Chhattisgarh Rahul Gupta has previously completed Alpine Techniques as well as winter expeditions on International Level Mountain Climbing Expedition. Chaman belongs to a middle class family and his father is a farmer. He is presently a student of Master of Social Work (MSW) First Year of Social Work Department at Kushabhau Thakre University of Journalism and Mass Communication, Raipur.
