NIT to develop flower market in city

Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) has taken lead to develop flower market in city. The market will come up at New Cotton Market Yard on 12714.65 sq.mtrs. land. NIT’s Board of Directors approved the proposal to purchase the said land from Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) at cost of Rs 61,63,53,400.
NIT has identified the land parcel in Khasra No. 404, 415 in Mouza Nagpur for establishment of flower market. A proposal will be sent to State Government for approval and later NIT is going to release land pattas on lease to businesspersons. At present, the flower market functions from Netaji Market at Sitabuldi and it lacks space. Time and again attempts were made to shift the market or redevelop the same place. The present market is located on the land vested with Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC). NIT has now taken lead to develop the flower market in bigger space.
Further the Board also decided to utilise expertise of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) for vetting the final bills of contractors and agencies in case the variation is above or below 10 per cent of estimated price. The decision was taken during the meeting of Board of Directors of Trust held on Wednesday at NIT Headquarters, Sadar. The technical report from the VNIT should be tabled at next meeting of Board so that a decision on settlement of bills could be taken.
These decision was taken at 1206th meeting of Board of NIT that was attended by MLA Vikas Thakre, Sandip Itkelwar, both Trustees, while Manoj Kumar Suryawanshi, Chairperson, NIT, presided. Supriya Thool, Joint Director, Town Planning Department, and ex-officio Member, was also present at the meeting.
The meeting also approved proposal to appoint Rajesh Meghrajani as Superintendent Engineer at NIT on promotion. He is currently working Architecture Section of NIT. The Board asked for review of the application of Sati Mata Shikshan Sanstha seeking land in Parsodi in Khasra no. 11, 12 and submitting the proposal to State Government. A land admeasuring 1000 sq.mtrs. will be allocated in Mouza Indora for setting-up electricity sub-station. NIT has decided not charge any money for releasing the land for the infrastructure project.
The Board also suggested reconsideration of proposal forwarded for change of reservation of 5.41 Ha land parcels in Mouza Chikhli (Khurd). The proposal came to NIT post clearance under sec. 37 of Maharashtra Regional Planning and Town Planning Rules 1966. NIT administration sought changing the reservation from Agriculture to Residential. A land parcel in P-1 in Mouza Chikhli (Deo), in Khasra no. 103/1, 103/2 on lease to Chhatra Jagruti, Jawaharlal Darda Convent.
