The first train of Kashi-Tamil Sangamam, preserving North and South Indian culture reached Itarsi Station on Friday where the delegates of the train were welcomed warmly amidst drum beats at the station.
On the arrival of the train at the Station, the representatives from the train were welcomed with flower garlands by Chairman, Municipality Itarsi Pankaj Choure and dignitaries of Itarsi city, railway administration including station manager and all the supervisor personnel. Overwhelmed by the welcome, the faces of all the delegates were beaming with joy. The train left for its destination from Itarsi station at 12.10 pm.
The second Kashi-Tamil Sangamam train will reach Itarsi station at 12 noon on November 21 and leave for the destination at 12.10. Kashi-Tamil Sangamam 2022 is an initiative of the Government of India as part of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. It will be a celebration of the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ and Indian culture is being celebrated along with the Tamil language. A sight of which was also seen at Itarsi station on Friday.
It is noteworthy that a month-long ‘Kashi Tamil Sangamam’ event is being organised in Varanasi from November 17 to December 16 to rediscover the age-old bond of knowledge and ancient civilizational connection between Kashi and Tamil Nadu. A total of 2592 delegates from Tamil Nadu will involve in these train services with 216 passengers in each rake and this train will stop at 21 stations.
WCR public relations officer informed that the purpose of the said visit is to bring out the relationship and shared values between the two experts/scholars on various aspects of the two ancient expressions of Indian culture, academic exchange-seminars, discussions etc., as part of the program of IIT Chennai and BHU.
The overarching objective is to bring the two knowledge and cultural traditions closer, build upon and understand our shared heritage and deepen people-to-people bonds between the regions.
