RAIPUR,
Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Amarjeet Bhagat has made a controversial statement against former Chief Minister and BJP National Vice-President Dr Raman Singh and termed him as a ‘fat man’.
Talking to mediapersons at Surguja Kutir in State Capital on Friday, Minister Bhagat, while replying to a query over Dr Raman Singh’s allegations, said that several scams had taken place during the 15 years rule of the previous BJP government.
Bhagat said, “Both - Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh should be asked to stand and we should compare as to who is fat and who has eaten much. He has embezzled funds during the 15 years rule so Dr Raman Singh has become fat.” It may be mentioned that Dr Raman Singh, during a public meeting in Kanker, had mocked at the Congress leaders by narrating a small story of becoming a lion from a rat.
The Minister said that ration is being distributed to all the ration card holders without any hindrance at fair price shops in the state. Instructions have also been given to the district level officers to verify the stock of all ration shops and make their information available soon, he added. Bhagat said that under the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, stock matching information regarding allocation and distribution of ration has been sought. He said that Antyodaya and priority ration card holders are being given free rice in the month of November. Instructions have also been given for wide publicity in this regard, he added. 13,415 fair price shops are being run in State. The data entry of the final stock for the month of September 2022 has been done by the District Food Office for 9,612 fair price shops and some districts have sought additional time for this work. There are 63.24 lakh poor ration card holder families in the state. Under the public distribution system, the distribution of ration to the ration card holders through government fair price shops is being done continuously, he added.
