A new member belonging to the big cat family has made its presence felt in Indravati Tiger Reserve, claim the forest officials. By issuing a press release, Deputy Director of Indravati Tiger Reserve Ganveer Dhammshil has confirmed this development. As per the release, the Wildlife Institute of India, Tiger Cell, Dehradun has confirmed the presence of a new tiger in tiger reserve.
With the addition of this new tiger, the number of animals in the reserve has swelled to six. It is worth mentioning here that Indravati Tiger Reserve is an appropriate place for tigers and apart from tigers, other animals including bear, deer and leopard can also be seen in tiger reserve.
Tiger reserve is widely spread over an area of 2799.086 square kilometres and shares border with Maharashtra and Telangana. It acts as corridor for the movement of tigers. Apart from this, Indravati management is continuously working for security of wild animals while monitoring their activities. Forest employees are patrolling for keeping an eye on wild animals. Deputy Director said that management in coordination with villagers was also working for creating awareness for protection of wild animals. This will also create employment opportunities for villagers while protecting wild animals.
While talking to The Hitavada, Deputy Director said that trap cameras have been placed inside forests to watch the movement of tigers. The cameras capture the pictures of animals and these pictures are sent to WII, Dehradun to analyse there is some new animal. The picture of tiger was also captured in cameras and sent to WII following which it was confirmed on the basis of strips that it is a new tiger, he added.
