Maharashtra Government, on Thursday, announced to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to find out the reasons that led to Disha Salian’s death. Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis made this announcement in the Legislative Assembly after the Ruling party members demanded and created ruckus in the Lower House in this regard. Salian was the Secretary of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. She was found dead a week before the death of Rajput in Mumbai. Fadnavis in the House said, “Those having clinical evidences in the Salian case should hand it over to the police for a thorough probe.”
Soon after the Question Hour began, Ruling party members started demanding SIT probe into Salian death case. The demand was raised by Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) MLA Bharat Gogawale and later supported by all Ruling party members present in the House. The ruling party members entered the well of the House, demanding SIT investigation.
In reply, the speaker of the house Rahul Narvekar denied to discuss the issue as it is not the part of the proceedings. But, the pandemonium continued whereas the opposition was demanding smooth proceeding of the house.
Meanwhile, the leader of the opposition Ajit Pawar opposed the demand of ruling party members and said, “It is unprecedented that the ruling party which has the responsibility to run the house is creating ruckus demanding an inquiry in a matter that has already been probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).” It is being done because we are going to bring out more papers and affidavits about the NIT land scam, Pawar added.
“Raising the matter of Salian death case in the house is not right because her parents are already made plea to every one including politicians to leave them alone. We should respect their appeal,” said Pawar in the house.
Countering the Pawar’s statement, Fadnavis said, “CBI did the investigation of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s case but in their closure report there was no mention of Disha Salian’s death investigation.” Mumbai police is already investigating the Salian’s case, said DyCM.
Fadnavis also said that the CBI had made it clear before the court in the Rajput case that they had not investigated the Salian case. Mumbai police closed the case in 2021 citing that there was no evidence of foul play found in the case.
Due to this ruckus, the lower house witnessed eight adjournments in which the first adjournment took place at 12.10 pm, then at 12.20 pm, 12.40 pm, 1.03 pm, 1.24 pm. 2 pm, 2.15 pm and again on 3 pm.
Amid this ruckus, the opposition leader wanted speaker to allow one of their member on Salian death case after announcement of SIT probe but Narvekar denied. On this denial, the opposition also started raising slogan against the speaker and the ruling party. As a result, the opposition walkout from the house after 3.30 pm and agitated outside the Assembly premises.

Rane made this demand on the fourth day of the winter session. Rane further added, “There are many politicians in India but why only Aditya Thackeray’s name has been involved in this case?”
