Now, name of new owner will added automatically on the electricity bills post purchase of the old house. The same is going to be facilitated as Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has introduced new system using information technology that will automatically update name of purchaser post completion of formality. The same is part of the Ease of Living initiative on part of the State run company.
As of now, post purchasing the property, the new owner has to submit an application to Citizen Facilitation Center (CFC) of MSEDCL for change of name. A processing fees too has to be submitted at CFC where a bunch of documents, including copy of sale deed is required to be submitted. But now MSEDCL has switched to on-line system by discarding the old system.
MSEDCL has now integrated its system with that of Department of Registration and Stamp wherein post completion of registry the former will get notified about sale of property. After that MSEDCL's IT section is going to send an SMS to the concerned customer and inform them to pay the necessary processing fee for adding their name on the electricity bill. The customer can also pay this fee on-line. Once the fees is paid, the electricity connection is transferred in name of new owner within a period of one month. In case the house is purchased in the name of more than one
person, they are asked to choose one name to whom the electricity connection should be transferred. This is so because the electricity connection can be issued in the name of a single person or organisation only.
In the new process, separate application, filing of documents, verification and follow-up to get power connection in name has been reduced, so the customers have got relief. The new system was recently successfully tested.
Vijay Singhal, Managing Director, MSEDCL, have said that the new move of MSEDCL is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi vision of Ease of Living for citizens. Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Devendra Fadnavis have applauded the MSEDCL for their new initiative.
