A tiger killed two cows in village panchayat Jhaliwada under Waraseoni forest range. On Monday morning at around 5 am, a tiger strayed into courtyard of one Prakash Jairam Thakre, a resident of Jhaliwada village panchayat and killed his cow. The tiger also killed another cow which was tied in cowshed of Tarachand Nagose at Rajghat chowk.
On receiving information the forest team reached the spot and started conducting formalities to provide compensation to the cow owners. A Camera has been installed at the spot to monitor the movement of tiger and search has been intensified for locating the big cat in the area. Locals have been suggested for putting light in their courtyard and outer places. Informed about the incident, Wathcman Prakash Thakre said that at around 5 am, he heard loud noises from the cowshed. Hence he came out with a torch. He was shocked to see a tiger dragging one of his cows. He shout after which tiger left the cow and fled away. Alert Thakre immeditaly lit fire on the spot in order to keep tiger away from coming back to prey on the killed cow. However, the hungry tiger killed another cow owned by Tarachand at Rajghat chowk.
Since many month, in village Nandgaon, Botejhari, Nagjhar, Ansera, Basi, tiger, leopard, other wild animals are preying on the cattle and attacking villagers also. Villagers are not going to forest area out of fear as when take their cattle are left for grazing in forest, tigers, leopards attack and kill the cattle. Even at night, tigers, leopards are entering villages and preying on the animals.
Making matter worse, Forest Department does not have trained staff to meet this situation. They are advising villagers to put lights on, lit fire, burn fire crackers to keep the big cat away from their houses. Now the Forest Department is planning on calling a team from National Park to send the tiger, leopard into dense forest area.
Confirming the news about attack, Range Officer Harshit Saxena said that in Jhaliwada village panchayat beat, a tiger has killed two cows. Due to cold season, wild animals come to rural areas. Now the Department is monitoring
24 hours and villagers have been alerted.
