Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed Kumari Selja as General Secretary In-charge of Chhattisgarh in place of P L Punia.

In this regard, All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary K C Venugopal has issued an order. After seven years, Punia has been relived from the post of Chhattisgarh Congress In-charge.

Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Selja wrote on her Tweeter account, “The important responsibility given to me by the party high command, I will fulfil it with full honesty and work hard for strengthening the Congress party. On being appointed General Secretary In-charge of Chhattisgarh, I express my heartfelt gratitude to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge Ji, Sonia Gandhi Ji and Rahul Gandhi Ji.”

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Cabinet Minister T S Singhdeo, State Congress Chief Mohan Markam and other Congress leaders have congratulated Kumari Selja for this new responsibility.

Baghel wrote on his Tweeter account, “I congratulate newly appointed General Secretary of All India Congress Committee and In-charge of Chhattisgarh Kumari Selja. We Congress workers welcome you. We are sure that we will all benefit from your experience and efficient leadership. I thank P L Punia ji. We all have learned a lot under your leadership.” Singhdeo wrote on his Tweeter account, “Hearty congratulations and welcome to @kumari_selja ji on being appointed as the AICC General Secretary of Chhattisgarh. I extend my gratitude to former General Secretary, Shri @plpunia ji for his support and guidance to Chhattisgarh Congress, over the years.”
