Dr P Anbalagan, CEO of MIDC on Thursday planted a sapling in the ‘Miyawaki’ project at Butibori MIDC Industrial Area. Butibori Manufactures Association (BMA) is taking care of all the trees.
Dr Shruti Goyal and Sanjay Nagulwar who are incharge of ‘Miyawaki’ project were felicitated by Dr P Anbalagan. Total 29 varieties totalling 4,638 saplings are planted. Sanjay Nagulwar, EC member of BMA, while talking to The Hitavada said, 1,500 square metres of land in Butibori MIDC has been utilised for the Miyawaki project. “Miyawaki technique is proven, tried and tested technique which is successful in forestation irrespective of soil and climatic condition,” he said.
More than 3000 forests have been created world-wide using this methodology, Nagulwar said.
Highlighting the advantage of the new technique, he said, it is 30 times better noise and dust reduction as compared to monoculture plantations; 30 times better carbon dioxide absorption as compared to monoculture plantations. He also said that it is maintenance free, It would be wild and native forests after 3 years from day of plantation.
It is completely chemical and fertilizer free forest that sustain and support local biodiversity. Prominently present were Pradeep Khandelwal, President of BMA, Rajesh Zanzad, Chief Engineer of MIDC, Sunil Akulwar, Superintendent Engineer and Mahendra Patel, RO, Nagpur.
