APART from the hard work put in by the boys, some credit of their selection in IPL must go to the Vidarbha Cricket Association and its Cricket Administration and Development Committee which is headed by former India player Prashant Vaidya. Never in its history, Vidarbha had five players picked up in one IPL auction. “This is great news for Vidarbha cricket. I am very happy. I have always said our boys must play cricket at the top level. They must get the opportunity to play at the highest level. If they get to play for India ‘A’ and India Under-19 teams, not only the players but the next generation also gets encouraged,” said Vaidya while sharing his views with ‘The Hitavada’. The selected players must make most of the opportunity.

“I would not say IPL is a huge achievement but it is in fact a great opportunity. It is a chance for the players to make their careers. They can learn a lot of cricketing smartness from being in that ‘mahol’ with many national an international players,” he added. Playing more is the only mantra to success. “To be more successful in the shorter formats, we need to play more matches. We have been planning that but due to the extended wave of pandemic, we could not do much. The more they play, the better they will get. Cricketing smartness comes from playing more games...some things can’t be taught, one has to learn from experience,” said Vaidya.
