RESERVE Bank of India (RBI) has been conducting Financial Literacy Week (FLW) every year since 2016 to propagate financial education messages on a particular theme across the country. The FLW for 2022 will be observed from February 14 to 18, 2022. The theme selected for the current year is ‘Go Digital, Go Secure’. The inaugural function of FLW 2022 was held on February 14, 2022 in RBI Nagpur. The event started with the welcome address of S V Satpute, General Manager, Financial Inclusion and Development Department, RBI Nagpur. To mark the commencement of Financial Literacy Week, Dr P S Venkateswaran, General Manager (O-i-C), RBI Nagpur unveiled the posters on the theme ‘Go Digital, Go Secure’ during the inaugural function.
 
While highlighting the theme of the FLW 2022, Dr P S Venkateswaran in his inaugural address focused upon the key messages to be spread during the week viz. convenience of digital transactions, security of digital transactions and protection to customers. He mentioned that the rise of digitalisation in formal financial services and increased accessibility to technology enabled gadgets by the citizens has a tremendous potential to support financial inclusion measures being undertaken by the Government of India and the Reserve Bank of India through the various policy measures from time to time. He advised the banks to disseminate information and create awareness among its customers and public. Goverdhan Rawat, CGM, NABARD in his address congratulated RBI, Nagpur office for organising the FLW. He mentioned that several initiatives have been taken by RBI towards digital infrastructure at the ground level and to accelerate the progress towards universalising digital payments in a convenient, safe, secure and affordable manner. He requested banks to adopt a community led participatory approach to create awareness among people through SHGs and FPOs for wider dissemination.
 
The function was attended through web conference by senior officers of RBI, Nagpur, controlling heads of various public and private sector banks, Chairman of Vidarbha Konkan Gramin Bank, district development managers of NABARD, lead district managers of Vidarbha and centres for financial literacy functionaries. The event was followed by flagging off of four mobile vans by GM (O-i-C) in coordination with Vidarbha Konkan Gramin Bank and Bank of India. The mobile vans with LED display of FLW 2022 messages will cover slum areas of Nagpur and its neighbouring districts. The theme of FLW 2022 has been displayed in LED at prominent metro stations. Further, 300 autorikshaws with FLW 2022 posters will ply in the districts of Akola, Amravati, Wardha and Yavatmal.
