HCG Cancer Centre Ngp organises ‘Wheels of Hopes’ cyclathon drive

ON THE occasion of ‘World Cancer Day’ HCG NCHRI Cancer Centre Nagpur organised a cyclathon drive ‘Wheels of Hopes’ with an aim to create awareness on cancer. The cyclathon was flagged off by Sohail Athar, Mohd Irshad Ahmad, Priyanka Sahu, Bharti Khillarkar and Kavita Nath, who won the battle against cancer from Telangkhedi and was concluded at HCG hospital.
The event was organised in association with Laughter Riders, Ncyclopedia, The Cyclists and Jhulelal Runners Academy. Over 200 cyclists took part in the event.
The cyclathon was flagged off at 6.30 am and concluded around 8 am in the presence of Dr Ajay Mehta, Director, HCG NCHRI, Venkateshwarlu Marapaka, Chief Operating Officer, HCG, Dr Suchitra Mehta, Dr Vaibhav Sonwani, Dr Nikhil Pande, Dr Nishad Dhakate, Dr Parag Ingle, Dr Ashish Bhange, Dr Manjit Rajput, Dr Nilesh Haran, Dr Ritesh Patil, Dr Jitesh Khandrani and Dr Arundhati Marathe .
According to the National Cancer Registry Programme Report 2020, released by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) recently, estimates there will be 13.9 lakh cases of cancer in India in 2020, and this number is likely to rise to 15.7 lakh by 2025.
Dr Ajay Mehta, Director, HCG NCHRI Cancer Centre said, “HCG Cancer Centre has always been at the forefront in encouraging fitness across all age groups and working with the community to promote healthy living. Cycling is a brilliant exercise; it is healthy, environment-friendly and fun way of communicating the importance of fitness.”
