Old course students need not write examination, clears COE Dr Ajit Pathak

Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) has decided to conduct examination of Microbiology subject of MBBS Second year again. Board of Examinations of the University has taken the decision to that effect. In one private medical college’s prelim examination the question paper given was the same as set by University for its main examination. University treated it as leak of the paper and so decided to conduct re-examination. Lt Gen Dr Madhuri Kanitkar (retired), Vice-Chancellor of MUHS told ‘The Hitavada’, “An irregularity at one medical college was brought to my notice and I wanted fair play for students till I investigate it.”

Some students raised the issue demanding that the examination should not be held again. According to them, why should they be punished for the fault of one college? Dr Kanitkar said, “I can understand the feeling of students. It was a tough decision for me taken with the help of Board of Examinations. But, we cannot know who all got affected and who not. Anyone who wrongly benefitted will not own up.” Dr Kanitkar did not reveal the name of college. The circular that was issued by Dr Ajit Pathak, Controller of Examination, MUHS says, ‘The Microbiology paper examination of MBBS II (2019 batch) stands cancelled. To maintain transparancy and integrity of university, MUHS is conducting examination again. We also feel that students should not suffer from any academic loss.

Accordingly the examination will be conducted on March 26, 2022 between 10.30 is and 1.30 pm at the centres where students had written previously. The earlier admit card will be considered as valid. Students who failed to appear for Microbiology examination held on March 11, 2022 can appear on March 26, 2022. Now the practical examination of all subjects that was scheduled to begin on March 21, 2022 will resume on March 28, 2022. MBBS-II Students of old course will not have to appear in the examination.’
