ICAR-CCRI conducts training for citrus growers

ICAR - CCRI recently conducted training programmes for citrus growers of Assam and Nagaland. It was organised under NEH plan on ‘Production Technology of Horticultural Crops’ in collaboration with ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Diphu, Karbi Anglong, Assam at KVK, Diphu.
50 farmers from Sarmen Hanse village participated in the programme. Dr Subal Maibangsa, Incharge, KVK, Karbi Anglong highlighted the role of KVK as well as the objectives of the training programme in addressing the needs of the farming community in the area. Dr R K Sonkar, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CCRI and training coordinator gave a brief introduction of CCRI, Nagpur and emphasised the focus on strengthening the citrus industry in North Eastern region under the leadership of Dr Dilip Ghosh, Director, ICAR-CCRI, Nagpur. Dr R K Sonkar, Dr U R Sangle, Principal Scientist (Plant Pathology), Dr A Thirungnanavel, Scientist SS, Dr Evening Stone Marboh, Scientist-SS (Horticulture), from CCRI, Nagpur and Shourov Dutta, SMS, KVK, Karbi Anglong, Assam delivered technical presentations on commercial varieties of citrus and other topics.
A similar training programme on ‘Production Technology of Citrus’ in collaboration with CAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Wokha, Nagaland was conducted. The training was at Lotsu village, Sarin block of Wokha District, Nagaland which was attended by 52 citrus growers. Medemshiba, District Horticulture Officer, Wokha was the chief guest and R Thechamo Ovung, Chief Village Council, Lotsu village was the guest
of honour.
