Electricity tariff for domestic consumers will be costlier by 10 paisa per unit, according to the new tariff announced by Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission (CSERC). At the same time, tariff has been increased by 15 paisa per unit for industrial and commercial use. The
new tariff is effective from
April 1, 2022.
According to the Commission, Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company has sent a demand proposal of revenue loss of Rs 246 crore in the previous years which has been accepted by
the Commission.
Similarly, Chhattisgarh State Transmission Company had sent a demand proposal
carrying revenue loss of Rs 36 crore for the previous years, but the Commission has
granted revenue excess
revenue of Rs 96 crore.
Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL) claimed a loss of Rs 725 crore in the fiscal 2022-23 along with the loss incurred in the previous years and the sent the proposal to the Commission. However, the Commission accepted only Rs 108 crore In this way, the three companies had sent a proposal of Rs 1,004 crore to the commission, out of which the Commission had accepted the loss proposal of Rs 386 crore and allowed to increase the tariff by 2.31 per cent for the year 2022-23.
Similarly, 5 paisa per unit has been hiked for steel industries using high tension line (220kv and 132 kv). Consumers coming under the category of HV-5 such as ‘poha’ and ‘murmura’ mill operators will have to pay the electricity bill with 5 per cent hike in tariff. Similarly, consumers of LV-5 category will pay 5 per cent more tariff. 7 per cent exemption will continue for the health service providers. Similarly, 10 per cent rebate in tariff for Women Self-Help Groups will continue and 50 per cent rebate in tariff for mobile towers being installed in naxal-hit areas of Chhattisgarh. Tariff for Defence Development will continue to enjoy 15 per cent rebate. Industries coming under HV-3 i.e. power loom, handloom, jute industries, ethanol industries will enjoy rebate in tariff by 25 per cent.
Consumer using electricity upto 33 kv high tension
power such as oxugen plants
and other small scale industries will also enjoy 10 per cent rebate in tariff. Billing demand in low tension and high tension has been increased from 75 per cent to 80 per cent. Rebate in power tariff for agriculture will continue.
According to the new slab, a consumer using upto 100 units will have to pay the bill with Rs 10 hike followed by Rs 20 for using upto 200 units, Rs 30 hike for using upto 300 units, Rs 40 hike for using upto 400 units, Rs 50 hike for using upto 500 units, Rs 60 hike for using upto 600 units, Rs 70 hike for using upto 700 units, Rs 80 hike for using upto 800 units, Rs 90 hike for using upto 900 units and Rs 100 for using upto 1000 units
