The last rites of the three class 11 students, who drowned in the ‘Maut Ka Kuan’ (Well of Death) of Kerwa Dam in Bhopal on Thursday afternoon, were performed on Friday. All three lived in the same locality and people could not control their emotions watching the last processions of three boys who died an untimely death. The last rites of student Shubham Adhikari were performed by his father Santosh Adhikari, while Nishant Jain was cremated by his uncle, and Mohit was cremated by elder brother Rohit. Notably, Mohit Sondhia (17), Shubham Adhikari (17), living near number seven stop, Nishant Jain, lived near Jain temple Habibganj, died due to drowning in Kerwa Dam. All three were class 11 students of Old Campion School. Rishi Shukla, who was present at the time of the incident, told the police that the first Shubham got down to take a bath in the water and started drowning. Nishant Jain jumped into water to save him and also started drowning, and that’s when Mohit jumped into the water to save him. All the three friends drowned and the bodies of all three were later fished out by divers.
