The purchase of Tendu patta through collection has begun in different rural areas under Primary Forest Produce Co-operative Society, Barela.
The process of unrooting has begun from May 1 and possibly would continue till May last week. The Primary Forest Produce Co-operative Society is carrying out collection in 14 places of different villages including Deori, Bahmni, Mehgaon, Kuteli, Partala, Khairi, Indira, Bilhari, Kukdi Kheda, Hinautiya, Narai, Bheeta and Umaria. Collection Incharge purchases the Tendu patta leaves.
It may be noted that this year Tendupatta collectors are getting more rates than last time. Last year Government was paying Rs 250 per 100 bundles to the collectors. But this year the Government is paying Rs 300 per 100 bundles. This rate inflation has lead to increase in number of Tendu patta collectors. Further this year the Cooperative Society fixed the target of 1500 standard sacks, but the purchase has reached to 1600 standard sack.
Govind Patel, Manager, Primary Forest Produce Cooperative Society informed that this year works of unrooting Tendupatta leaves has crossed the set target of the Government while in the collection process only standard quality Tendu patta are being included. Further, around 1300 families are working in unrooting Tendu patta leaves.
