Jabalpur's Rani Durgavati Museum witnessed a deserted look during the post-pandemic period. This museum has preserved the equipment, photographs, dresses, utensils, coins amd sculpture belonging Kalchuri period and ancient time. The Rani Durgavati Museum was established in the year 1964 in memory of Gond Queen Rani Durgavati.
Most of the time college students visit this museum for their project works, study purpose or to do internships. People who are actually interested in watching the beauty of sculpture and ancient art rarely visit this museum.
The museum has sculptures and statues of Hindu and Jain deities from 2nd century to 18th century, collection of rare coins belong to 2nd BC to 1600th BC, letters written by Mahatma Gandhi, red stone sculpture from Tripuri belonging to the 10th century, sand stone idol of Goddess Durga, 10th century sand stone sculpture of Saraswati, sculpture of wild boar at the entrance and other such iconic things.
According to the museum curator, before the year 2020, people from worldwide used to visit this museum and learnt about Kalchuri dynasty. The museum has recorded maximum 500 visitors at once in the year 2019 between November to January month. But now not this place has become deserted with only 10 to 12 visitors per day. They informed that this museum has the record of nationwide and even worldwide visitors but locals seem uninterested in knowing their own culture. Some of the students who were on educational and internship visit to this museum shared their experience of visiting the
