State unit of Bhartiya Janata Party has declared names of candidates for Mayor’s post of municipal corporation elections. From Bhopal, Malti Rai will be party’s face for Mayor’s post but suspense has been maintained for Indore. In Jabalpur, Dr Jitendra Jamdar has been given ticket and deliberations are going on within the party for other cities. For rest of the cities, party candidates are as follows Meena Jatav from Morena, Sangita Tiwari from Sagar, Prabodh Vyas from Rewa, Yogesh Tamrakar from Satna, Chandra Pratap Vishwakarma from Singrauli, Jyoti Dixit from Katani, Anant Dhurve from Chhindwara, Amrita Yadav from Khandwa, Madhuri Patel from Burhanpur, Mukesh Tatwal from Ujjain and from Dewas, Geeta Agrawal.
This time BJP has declared 11 candidates in first round. As the date of voting is coming closer, pressure on party was increasing to announce the names. Elections to the 16 municipal corporations across the State comprises 884 wards will be held in two phases. The first phase of voting will take place on July 6 and the second phase on July 13.
The counting of the votes will be held on July 17 for the first phase, while for the second phase it will be held on July 18.
