VAIBHAV Raut, a second year B Com student of City Premier College, Nagpur emerged champion in the Prague International Chess Festival Blitz Tournament held at Czech Republic.
Seeded 27, Vaibhav finished first after at end of 11 rounds. Vaibhav played well and gathered 8.5 points out of 11 rounds.
There were four players who finished on identical 8.5 points but due to better Buchholz Score, Vaibhav was declared winner.
Vaibhav defeated International Master Pribyl Josef of Czech Republic, Fide Master Ghazarian Kirk from USA and Fide Master Gajic Mladen from Sweden on his way to the title. Total 86 players from different countries participated in the tournament. Vaibhav was awarded 1000 CZK Czech Republic currency. Vaibhav gained net 100 blitz ELO rating points in single tournament.
Vaibhav represented Maharashtra in DSO National Chess tournaments three times and won two gold and one time silver medal. Vaibhav is son of Dr Jayant Raut, Assistant Professor at YCCE, Nagpur and Vrushali Raut, teacher at Narayana Vidyalayam.
