SHUTTLER Ameya Naktode of SM Group won double crowns in the recently held Khasdar Krida Mahotsav. Till the semis, Naktode did not lose a game to reach the finals of U-17 boys singles and boys doubles. He won the U-17 singles beating Pranay Gadewar (20-22, 21-15, 21-10).
After losing the first game, Naktode bounced back to win the remaining two with ease.
Naktode is being trained at SM Group for the past four years. In doubles, he paired with Aryan Mandavgane and won the title defeating Jeeva Pillai & Varun Kolte 21-17, 21-12 in straight sets.
Naktode, 14, lost the semis of the men’s quarter-finals to Gandharv Nawale 21-17, 21-19. Naktode gives the credit of his success to coach Suresh Menon.
