The Leader of Opposition in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, Dharamlal Kaushik, expressed grief over the death of two girls due to malaria and dengue in Chandragiri and Karka villages of Darbha development block in Bastar.
Kaushik said that the cases of dengue and malaria are increasing continuously in Bastar, but for its prevention,
preparations were not made by State Government.
The local administration claims to have taken preventive measures and carried out an awareness campaign only after the death of the two people, said Kaushik. Darbha area is very sensitive keeping in mind people in this block face the threat of diseases like Dengue and Malaria more than the people in rest parts.
The preparations that should be done to prevent/control these diseases are not visible on ground level. Kaushik said that a large number of malaria positive patients are being found in many villages of the block and it is a matter of great concern.
What can be more sad than this is that the mosquito nets meant for the distribution among the people are not reaching them, Kaushik said. If mosquito nets and necessary medicines were distributed in time, this situation would not have been created. The alleged campaign of the Congress government of the state is going on in Bastar division only on paper, said Kaushik. The local administration is only engaged in looting the accolades with the help of a PR campaign. Kaushik said that no one is aware of what the State Health Ministry is doing and the claims of better health facilities are completely hollow. The way preparations should be made for the prevention of seasonal diseases is not visible. Kaushik said that after reviewing the health condition of Bastar, appropriate steps should be taken for better health facilities for the common people
