FARMING activities across the district have gained momentum with occurence of good spell of rains for the past two days. Besides, the water bodies like Gangrel Dam in Dhamtari have also filled up to their capacities.
As per official sources, the district has recorded 316.9 mm of average rainfall since June 1. As per information, the highest rainfall i.e., 413.7 mm was recorded in Nagri while the lowest rainfall i.e., 247.2 mm was recorded in Kurud. Similarly, Kukrel recorded 339.99 mm of rainfall, Dhamtari recorded 328.88 mm of rainfall, Magarlod recorded 302.8 mm of rainfall and Bhakhara received 369.9 mm of rainfall.
Panchram Sahu from Gangrel Dam control room told that 68,332 cusec water storage was reported in Gangrel Dam till Tuesday. He told that the storage capacity of the Gangrel dam is 348.70 meters and at present, the water storage here is reported till 345.60 metres. The water storage is likely to increase in the coming few days, he added. It is noteworthy here that earlier, the farmers were struggling to get enough water for irrigating their crops. But with sufficient storage in the dam, the farmers are happy and are able to irrigate their large portion of land.
