A 300-year-old Banyan tree had fallen in front of Kamala Park about 18 days back due to storms and rain. To remove this tree that had fallen in the middle of the road, the garden workers of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) had trimmed it. Also, its stub was kept in the godown. When the members of Ram Aastha Mission Foundation got to know about this, they decided to give new life to this tree. For this the co-operation of BMC and of other departments was also taken. The members of the foundation have relocated and managed to bury this stump of the tree in Shri Ramvan in Gandhi Nagar.
Founder of Ram Aastha Mission Tanmay Jain says that he has been working to give new life to the old, decapitated tree stumps for the last 22 years. So far more than 50 trees have been restored. On Thursday, this broken tree stub was again displaced with the help of foundation members and BMC employees. It took over eight hours.
During this, with the help of Hydra crane, trolley and another crane of the BMC, it has been buried again in the ground. It was learnt that seven years ago, Ram Aastha Mission had lifted one such tree from near Vallabh Bhawan and planted it in Shri Ram Van.
This tree was lying in the form of a stubble for two years, but due to the hard work of the members of the organisation, it got a new life. In 20 days, the buds will start bursting in the stub: Former IFS officer R P Singh said that the place where the tree has been replanted, a pit was first made at that place. After that the aerial root system of the tree was established in the ground and manure was applied to it. In the next 20 days, the buds will start bursting in it. Also, in three months leaves and branches will start coming on this tree again. “This effort being made in the direction of environmental protection is commendable. It will be our endeavour to give new life to the old trees which are falling due to rain and storms.”, said BMC Commissioner KVS Chaudhary Kolsani
