Monkey terror grips Cantonment area

 

 

Residents of Cantonment area are nowadays living under the terror of monkeys. The monkeys are damaging property and even injuring people of Ranjhi and adjoining areas. People have complained about the matter to Cantonment Board but the concerned authorities are paying no heed to help people rid of the menace. The authorities taking no interest in catching the trouble-making monkeys and releasing them in the nearby jungle.

Troops of monkeys can be seen everywhere in Cantonment area. These monkeys create nuisance, injure people and damage property. The relaxed attitude of Cantonment Board in dealing with the problem is proving costly to citizens.

People have complaint the matter to concerned officials in the Board and draw their attention to the problem time and again, but the officials paying no heed to people’s concern and taking no steps to resolve the problem. Groups of monkeys can be seen hoping on houses. They terrorize people, damage their properties and even take away edibles from houses.

It may be mentioned that to tackle monkey menace, the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation had few months back took assistance of monkey catchers from Sagar. The JMC had called a team of monkey catchers to get rid city dwellers of the menace. The action was taken after the JMC received plethora of complaints of nuisance and property loss by monkeys. Hence to redress the problem, the civic body had called an eight-member team from Sagar. The team caught monkeys from various parts of the city and released them into forest area, nearly 20 kilometres away from the city.
