The delay in declaration of results of Class XII examination conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has put the students in trouble as they are not getting admissions in Under Graduate courses. Colleges are claiming that they didn’t have any seat vacant. These institutions conducted admission process immediately after the results of HSC (Class XII examinations conducted by Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education) were out. CBSE had written a letter to University Grants Commission (UGC) in the first week of July where it had requested the apex body to direct universities to extend the dates of admission process of UG courses till the Central Board’s results are not announced.
Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) had kept a quota of 20% seats in all types of Under Graduate courses being run by the colleges affiliated to it, for the Class XII passout students of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
Some parents approached ‘The Hitavada’ to share the problems being faced by their wards. “When we went to the colleges, we were told, no seat was vacant. There are some institutions which have seats available with them, but we always go for our choice of the institute, the quality one. If CBSE declared results late it is not our fault.”
Examinations conducted by CBSE for its Class XII concluded in the third week of June. It declared results in last week of July. On the other hand, State Board had declared results of Class XII much earlier. Most colleges without waiting for CBSE results conducted admission process.
When contacted Dr Subhash Chaudhari, Vice-Chancellor of RTMNU, he made it clear’, “Though we did not receive any letter from UGC, we had continued to conduct our admission process of UG courses keeping 20%
seats reserved for CBSE Class XII passouts. As per our general calculation, less than 10 per cent of CBSE passouts opt for our non-professional courses while some more students go for professional courses. If colleges are denying the admissions to the students then it is not good. They are supposed to apply to us for the increased seats and we are ready to provide them that much intake immediately. If aggrieved parent lodges complaint with us we will entertain it and take action also.”
