SJAN, others celebrate National Sports Day

National Sports Day
SPORTS Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN) celebrated National Sports Day on the occasion of birth anniversary of hockey wizard Major Dhyanchand at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University ground.
A penalty shoot-out competition was organised on the occasion in which Rahul Thakur of ‘Dainik Bhaskar’ emerged winner while Ninad Bhonde of ‘Lokmat’ finished runners up. Paritosh Pramanik and Anupam Soni of ‘The Hitavada’ were the semi-finalists. Prof Atmaram Pande of Big Ben Football Club and senior journalist and SJAN founder member Dharmendra Jore distributed the prizes.
SJAN president Dr Ram Thakur and Secretary Paritosh Pramanik welcomed the guests. Naresh Shelke conducted the programme and also proposed a vote of thanks.
NDFA
NAGPUR District Football Association (NDFA) celebrated Dhyanchand’s birth anniversary at its football stadium Suyog Nagar. On the occasion, President Haresh Vora garlanded the portrait of Major Dhyanchand. He also spoke about Dhyanchand and his skillful game that helped India win several Olympic medals in hockey. Abdul Latif, Atmaram Pande, Kamil Ansari, Khalid Ansari, Sanjay Kathale, Mohd Mubin, Abid Khan Satyanarayan Jerpot, Adnan Ali, AB Khan, Satyan Kottulwar, Sudhir Ranshoor, Rishi Shikre and others were also present.
VWHA
Vidarbha Women’s Hockey Association (VWHA) Nagpur, celebrated National Sports Day on the occasion of 117th birth anniversary of hockey legend Dhyanchand at its Tiger’s Gap ground, Sadar. All the Executive members attended the function. VK Trevedi, Pramod Jain spoke about Dhyanchand and his skills.
The Chanda Devi Saraf School
THE Chanda Devi Saraf School students celebrated National Sports Day, in honour of hockey wizard Major Dhyanchand by demonstrating skills in different games and activities like karate, skating, basketball, gymnastics, hockey, and kho kho.
The School Sports Coordinator Percy Amroliwalla addressed the players and informed them about Major Dhyanchand and his achievements. Principal Bharti Malviya, Vice-Principal Nirmala Simon also spoke on the occasion.
Vishal Wankhede (skating), Harish Choube (karate), Ashish Gatlewar (basketball), Swati Gaikwad and Sangeeta Bhange (kho kho), Alka Shende (gymnastics) worked hard for the success of the event.
