BOYS teams of Nagpur Amateur Sporting Association (NASA) and Dharampeth Krida Mandal A (DKM) qualified for the pre-quarterfinals in Basketball Junior District Championship under way at SNG courts on Thursday.

NASA and DKM boys registered second successive wins to move up. DKM A recorded a comprehensive 48-14 win over NYSS with Mohit Tiwari top-scoring with 15 points. NYSS’ Aashay Bhoite scored seven points. The quarter-wise scores read 16-05, 12-04, 11-02, 09-03. Vallabh Trivedi scored 16 points in NASA’s 37-24 (11-02, 08-04, 07-02, 13-08) victory over Phoenix. Shubham Tiwari scored 11 for the losing team.

In girls section, Gurudeo Nagar Krida Mandal (GKM) surprised last year’s semi-finalist Nutan Bharat Yuwak Sangh (NBYS) 41-30. Anushka Bakade scored 16 points with scores reading 07-13, 11-06, 13-07, 10-04.

Riding on a fine performance by Swati Wankhede, Shivaji Nagar Gymkhana (SNG) A team thumped Dharampeth Krida Mandal’s B outfit.

Swati was time and again on target scoring 19 points and was well assisted by Gunjan Mantri (10) as SNG A eves recorded a 59-06 (20-02, 14-02, 16-02, 09-00) win. Anandi Sonewane scored 2 points for the losing team.

In other matches of the evening, PBG (Kanak Chaudhari 05) beat SKM (Sharau Sahave 07) 33-10 (09-03, 10-02, 10-02, 04-03); Saraswati Kanya Sangh (Devika Thakre 16) beat UBA (Shrushti Bhagat 09) 35-15 (12-00, 09-11, 09-00, 05-04).
