IN yet another tragic incident, one nursing staffer of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur, died while 15 others sustained critical injuries after the bus they were travelling in overturned and plunged into a roadside rivulet after colliding with railing of a culvert near village Junawahi under Bhanpuri Police Station limits here on early Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Assistant Nursing Supervisor Sumesh C, whereas, the injured are Bal Venktesh, Mariya, Paru, Shilpa, Rahul, Shri laxmi, Thomas, Rishna, Anita Devi, Rohini, Abhishek, Elina and Surya. The injured are undergoing treatment in Dimprapal Medical College.
A team of AIIMS nursing staff was on a trip from Raipur to Chitrakote waterfall in Jagdalpur. As they reached near village junawahi, the bus driver Rajesh lost control over the steering wheel after feeling drowsiness. Eventually, the uncontrolled bus rammed into railing of a culvert and then plunged into roadside rivulet, killing Sumesh C on the spot and leaving 15 other medical staff injured.
The commuters informed the police and a team of Bhanpuri police personnel reached the spot. The injured were admitted to local health centre and later referred to Medical College. Bhanpuri Station House Officer Kishore Kewat said that the deceased was identified through his PAN card and driving license. All were nursing staff of AIIMS. Meanwhile, it was learnt from injured that they were on the way to Chitrakote at around 2 am on Tuesday when the bus collided with the railing of culvert and fell into a rivulet. According to SHO, crane was called to take out the body. The body has been sent for postmortem and case has been registered under Sections 279, 337, 338 and 304 A of IPC.
