The exporters and importers, who are facing hardships due to lack of infrastructure facilities at the existing inland container depots one each at Butibori and Borkhedi, may soon have one more facility. According to the sources, Adani Multimodal Logistics Park and ICD at Borkhedi is likely to commence operations within the next 30 days. Located at a distance of about 2 km from the existing Inland Container Depot (ICD) of Distribution Logistics Infrastructure Private Limited (DLI) at Borkhedi, the new ICD is close to the CONCOR’s Multi Modal Logistic Park at MIHAN.
The new ICD, part of the Adani Group, is spread over a 75 acre area at Borkhedi and most of the required infrastructure, storage facilities and equipment to handle containers have been created. Sources told The Hitavada that the ICD was almost ready. “Due to some technical issues, the Group could not start the operations.
However, now the Group has succeeded in resolving the issues and we may soon see the ICD handling the cargo,” said the sources.
Sources in the Customs Department also confirmed the development and said, the ICD has received almost all the clearances from the department to start operations. It is planning to handle about 8 rakes per month. The Customs clearances are mandatory for import/export business. It is also being said that the Customs department may issue notice to the Adani Logistic Park and ICD to start the facility. It is believed that the new ICD, which will be the third such facility in the area, would provide value added services and extended services to its clients. The Adani ICD would cater to rail haulage services from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT).
Moreover, rail tariff has been put up on its website www.adaniports.com. Adani Logistics Park and ICD, Borkhedi, Nagpur is part of the Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd, one of the country’s largest integrated ports and logistics companies.
It is important to note that the exporters and importers of the region are hit for the past few months as the existing operators lack infrastructure facilities including reach stackers that are delaying cargo handling.
