Properties worth crores of rupees were gutted in separate fire incidents at Xplore gaming zone in MIDC, and a godown of Haldiram’s distributor in Ghotalpanjari near Besa on Saturday. No one was injured in the incidents. The first incident occurred at the Xplore gaming zone in the MIDC area. At about 10.30 am, a blaze erupted in the facility’s tall pooling area. The limited morning-hour customer rush allowed employees to quickly evacuate the premises. Fire tenders of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and MIDC reached the scene.

 

 

 

 

The firefighters battled the raging inferno for nearly two hours. The intensity of the fire was so severe that thick black smoke could be seen billowing from the premise from several kilometers away. According to Fire and Emergency Services officials of NMC, the fire consumed critical gaming equipment and areas such as the jumping zone, sliding areas, zero gravity, and the basketball court. In another incident, fire broke out at a godown belonging to a distributor of Haldiram’s, A V Agency owned by Abhishek Patil, in the Ghotal Panjari area near Besa.

 

The blaze also ignited around 10.30 am. Fire tenders from MIHAN, two from MIDC, and two from NMC reached the spot. It took about two-and-a-half hours for firefighters to douse the flames. The entire inventory stored in the godown was reduced to ashes in the blaze which resulted into substantial financial losses to the distributor. The fire fighting operation was led CFO NMRDA Ganesh Kharatmal. Fire Department officials are currently suspecting a short circuit as the potential cause in both the fire incidents. An official said that an investigation is underway to determine the exact origin of the blaze in both the cases.
