All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary and Raipur West MLA Vikas Upadhyay lauded the Congress Government’s efforts in driving development in urban areas of State Capital. Addressing a press conference at the state Congress party office Rajiv Bhawan in Raipur Upadhyay emphasised that residents are reaping the benefits of various schemes initiated by the Congress Government, including the Swami Atmanand School and the Dhanvantari Medical and Urban Health Scheme. During the conference, details of the extensive work undertaken by the Congress Government in the urban sector over the last five years were presented. One significant achievement highlighted was the distribution of more than 25,000 land pattas this year. Upadhyay pointed out that during the BJP’s 15-year tenure, no land pattas were issued, but the Congress Govt has distributed over one lakh pattas since 1979. These land titles, provided by Baghel government, will remain valid until 2028.

Upadhyay criticised the BJP for attempting to mislead the public by suddenly showing interest in land titles after years of neglect. State Congress Media Chief Sushil Anand Shukla, also present at the press conference, mentioned improvements in infrastructure, such as the reconstruction of a poor-quality expressway and the recovery of funds from defaulting account holders in the Indira Priyadarshini Mahila Co-operative Bank. He also highlighted the opening of the Atmanand English Medium School and the regularisation of irregular constructions during the Congress government’s tenure. District Co-operative Bank Raipur Chairman Pankaj Sharma spoke about the plight of poor people living in slum areas during the BJP’s rule, where their homes were bulldozed. He credited the Congress government for relocating these residents to BSUP and ensuring they received land pattas.

Raipur North MLA Kuldeep Juneja commended the Congress government’s efforts in providing housing solutions for both urban and rural homeless populations. He emphasised that the government has also taken significant steps towards the regularisation of illegal colonies. The press conference was attended by former Mayor Pramod Dubey, Vice-Chairman of Raipur Development Authority Suryamani Mishra, Senior State Congress Spokespersons Dhananjay Singh Thakur and Ghanshyam Raju Tiwari, Joint General Secretary Ajay Sahu, and Chhattisgarh Pradesh Yuva Congress President Akash Sharma.
