Maharashtra Government has sanctioned a proposal to allot 21.19 hectare (52.36-acre) land to Bhonsala Military School (BMS) in Nagpur. The land, situated at Godhni near its present establishment, is meant for starting a Military Training School for girls. The BMS also plans to start IAS preparatory training classes with residential facilities and a senior college here. A State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde took this decision on Tuesday.
This land is being given on a 30-year lease to BMS. Since Bhonsala Military School at Nagpur has earned the status of highly distinguished and renowned institution, the Government decided to allot the additional piece of land to it. Chairman of Bhonsala Military School, Nagpur Shailesh Joglekar told ‘The Hitavada’ that the existing BMS establishment functions on a 30-acre land at Godhni.
The State Government has now allotted an additional 52 acre land. “We had submitted this proposal in 2007, which has been finally sanctioned. I express my gratitude towards the Government for showing this trust.” Joglekar, who is also the Vice President of the parent body Central Hindu Military Education Society that runs Nagpur’s School, shared the plan with ‘The Hitavada’. “We will be coming up with Vidarbha’s first and Maharashtra’s second military school for girls. We are also planning to start an IAS Preparatory Training Classes with residential facilities and a senior college.” Joglekar said BMS is contemplating to start graduation-level college where students can prepare for civil services examinations. At present, there is no such facility available in Nagpur for students.
