The Food Department raided the gas refilling centre being operated in two broken Government quarters in the Smart City area of the city and seized a total of 95 cylinders which include domestic as well as commercial cylinders were recovered. The gas was being refilled in the smallest cylinder at the centre which was very dangerous and could lead to a massive accident. After getting tip-off, the Food Department team on Wednesday took action and seized a total of 95 cylinders. There were 65 cylinders filled while remaining were empty. A loading vehicle was also found parked at the spot belonged to Book and Cook Gas Agency located in New Market. Therefore, the Food Department team has also reached the agency.
 
Notably, there are dilapidated Government quarters in the smart city area opposite to Platinum Plaza in TT Nagar. District Supply Controller Meena Malakar and Assistant Supply Officer Bhanu Prakash Sharma received information that there is a stock of domestic gas cylinders in these broken quarters, and gas refilling in cars and autos is being done here illegally. After this, on Wednesday at 9.30 am, Assistant Supply Officer Sharma and the team reached the spot.
Assistant Supply Officer Bhanu Prakash Sharma said that complaints about gas refilling were being received from these broken government quarters. Therefore, a raid was conducted here on Wednesday morning. When investigated, a total of 55 cylinders were kept in two abandoned Government quarters.
 
Refilling was being done here from three cylinders. Three loading auto had come to fill gas. Along with the auto, vans, electric weighing forks and refilling machines have also been seized. Out of total 55 cylinders, 45 were filled, 3 were partially filled and 7 were empty. During the raid itself, a vehicle of gas agency Book and Cook New Market was parked at the spot. There were a total of 40 cylinders in the vehicle of which 20 were filled and 20 were empty. Further action has been started in the matter.
