The city has once again proved its mettle on international level. Jabalpur is the only city from India which has the opportunity to sign Milan Urban Food Policy Pact (MUPFF). Municipal Commissioner Swapnil Wankhade informed that the Central Government has organised a national-level competition ‘Eat Smart Challenge’ in which all smart cities of the country, including Jabalpur, had participated. He said Jabalpur had the opportunity to sign MUPFF. It is a pact that includes 232 cities worldwide, with a steering committee of 13 members and Jabalpur is the only city in India to be selected.

Jabalpur has been chosen to represent Eurasia and South West Asia region for next two years, with Municipal Commissioner Swapnil Wankhade (IAS) representing Jabalpur globally for this endeavour. Wankhade said Jabalpur achieved the designated objectives outlined in the Indian Government’s Eat Smart Challenge, which included an increase in licenses and registrations for food business operators, food safety drives led by food safety officials, surveillance of food products, hygiene ratings for food establishments and the establishment of Eat Right Campuses.
As a result, Jabalpur became the first city in India and one of the 13 cities worldwide to be included in the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact.

He further informed that the Government has also awarded financial incentives to the top 10 cities for their outstanding efforts. The Municipal Commissioner has expressed gratitude to citizens for their awareness, which has been instrumental in achieving these milestones for Jabalpur Smart City. He also acknowledged the contribution of Smart City CEO Chandrapratap Gohal and Deputy Commissioner Sambhav Ayachi for their praiseworthy roles in the accomplishment.
