The Bhopal Crime Branch arrested a drug peddler with a seizure of cannabis worth over Rs 2.50 lakh, on Thursday. The 53-year-old accused, Rajesh Sharma was on the run after a case was registered against him. He is a habitual offender facing several charges in different police stations of the State capital. Additional DCP of Crime Branch Shailendra Singh Chouhan said that they received a tip about Sharma who was standing near a public toilet in Kolar on Thursday early morning. A team reached the scene and held the accused, he said.
 
The cops also seized cannabis worth over Rs 2.50 from his possession which he had brought from one Mohammad Tahir of Shahjahanabad, said Chouhan. The accused was taken on police remand after being produced in the court. Chouhan added that the accused will be quizzed about his associates and also his customers. The police are running a special campaign against drug peddling in the city ahead of elections. Several other criminals are arrested recently during these operations.
