POLICE officers as well as medical officers, engineers of construction agencies, were provided training in relation to the new provision/procedure for effective implementation of Rule 150 (A) finally established for the investigation of road accidents after the amendment in the Central Motor Vehicles (Fifth Amendment) Rules 2022. A total of 9,498 training sessions have been conducted for 33,149 officers/employees regarding the system of Integrated Road Accident Data Base. In the same sequence, in order to provide relief to the victims of road accidents as soon as possible by developing an electronic detail accident report portal, the State Legal Services Authority, various insurance companies, Child Welfare Committee, and Motor Accident Claim Tribunal in case of accidents caused by minor drivers have also been informed. In this sequence, for coordination with various agencies and training to all concerned for providing statutory compensation to the people affected by road accidents as soon as possible, the Nodal Officer nominated by the State Government and Chairman of the Inter-Departmental Lead Agency and Joint Commissioner/Road Safety Sanjay Sharma organised a workshop for officials of 21 different insurance companies of the State. In this workshop, information on the following points was given by Saransh Shirke and Sunny Kumar Roll out Manager.
 
As soon as information about a road accident is received, the police investigation officer will reach the accident site and start investigation. The investigating officer will inform the claim agency about the accident by filling the First Accident Report (FAR) in Format-1 within 48 hours of the accident. A copy of Form-1 will also be made available to the victim, State Legal Services Authority, Insurance Company. The rights of the road accident victim and the flow chart details of the scheme mentioned in Format 2 will be made available by the investigating officer to the victim or their legal representatives within 10 days of the accident. The driver involved in the accident will submit relevant information as per Format 3 and the vehicle owner as per Format 4 to the investigation officer within 30 days. Interim Accident Report in Format 5 shall be submitted by the Investigating Officer to the Claims Agency within 50 days. A copy of the said IAR will also be given to the insurance company of the vehicles involved in accident, victim/claimant and the State Legal Services Authority.
 
Relevant information as per Format 6 and 6A will be submitted by the accident victims or their representatives to the investigating officer within 60 days. The investigation officer will complete the investigation of criminal cases within 60 days and submit the final report before the concerned criminal court under Section 173 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. According to Rule 150(A) 14, if the driver, owner, insurance company or claimant fails to disclose the relevant information, the investigating officer can seek necessary instructions from the claim agency. The investigating officer will complete the verification of documents and send the detailed accident report in Format 7 to the drug agency within 90 days from the date of the accident. The investigating officer will also provide a copy of the Detailed Accident Report (DAR) to the owner/driver of the offending vehicle, the accident victim, the nodal officer of the insurance company, the General Insurance Council and the State Legal Services Authority
