Rabindranath Tagore University Chancellor Santosh Choubey was honoured with Vaatayan International Shikhar Samman 2023 for his significant contribution in the field of literature, culture, education and technology. In Bharopiya (India-Europe) Hindi Mahotsav organised in London on October 13. This award was given to him by former Education Minister of India Ramesh Chandra Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, British MP Virendra Sharma, Cooperative Minister of Indian Embassy Deepak Chaudhary in the presence of representatives of Britain and many countries. Santosh Choubey said that Indian-European Hindi Conference is a commendable effort for international promotion of Hindi. He said, “I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire group of ‘Vaatayan’ and the selection committee for their respect. Also, I would like to say that I will keep trying to take the journey of publicity of Hindi language forward with this same energy.
 
Guests also inaugurated the book ‘Contemporary Overseas Literature’ published under the editorship of Choubey. Dr Jawahar Karnavat presented details of great creative achievements of Santosh Choubey. Famous litterateur Anamika Professor of Uppsala University, Heins Werner Wessler and Rekha Sethi were also honoured. The programme was coordinated by Padmesh Gupta, Founder of UK Hindi Committee. Divya Mathur, Founder President of Vatayan, Anil Joshi, President of Global Hindi Parivar and many dignitaries of Britain were present. Santosh Chaubey’s multifaceted creative work: Poet, story writer, novelist, editor and translator Santosh Choubey is one of those rare litterateurs who has global recognition for his innovative creative projects and innovations. His six story collections ‘Light colored shirt’, ‘Restaurant Mein Dochhar’, ‘Nine Bindu Ka Khel’, ‘Beech Prem Mein Gandhi’, ‘But remembering Shakespeare’ and ‘Representative Stories’, three novels - ‘Rag Kedar’, ‘Kya Pata Comrade Mohan’ and ‘Jaltarang’, four poetry collections - ‘Kahin Aur Sach Honge Sapne’, ‘Kona Dharti Ka’, ‘Iss Akavi Samay Mein’ and ‘Ghar-Bahar’ were published and discussed. His translations of Schumacher, published under the titles ‘Author and Commitment’, ‘Moscow Diary’ and ‘Bhramit Aadmi Ke Liye Ek Kitaab’, have been widely read and appreciated. He has also edited ‘Vanmali Samagra’ in two volumes focusing on ‘Kathakar’ Vanmali and three books of ideological prose focusing on stories and novels, ‘Internal crisis of narrative’, ‘New tradition of novel’ and ‘Kahani: Swapna aur Yatharth’. Along with this, his two criticism books ‘Kala Ki Sangat’ and ‘Apne Samay Mein’ have also been published.
 
Presently he is the editor-in-chief of ‘Rang Samvad’, the award-winning and prestigious interdisciplinary magazine of drama and arts. The story dictionary ‘Katha Madhya Pradesh’ edited by him, centered on more than two hundred story-writers of Madhya Pradesh, has gained nationwide fame. In this sequence, on the occasion of ‘Vishwa Rang’, he has edited ‘Kathadesh’, a collection of stories of more than six hundred story writers from across the country in eighteen volumes. He is the editor-in-chief of ‘Katha Bhopal’, which focuses on more than one hundred and seventy-five story writers of Bhopal, published on the occasion of Vanmali Katha Samman 2022, and ‘Vigyan Katha Kosh’, which contains more than 200 science stories from the world in Hindi.
