Samarasta Seva Sangathan has organised a symposium and a felicitation programme on the occasion of Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti. Professor Kaushal Dubey was the chief guest while Dr Pawan Sthapak was the keynote speaker of the programme. Addressing the gathering, Dr Pawan Sthapak said, Maharaja Agrasen was a Suryavanshi King and was a descendant of Lord Rama’s son, Kush. He said Maharaja Agrasen was a skilled administrator in financial matters. It is well-documented that during his reign, in times of economic difficulty, he called upon citizens to contribute one coin and one brick to connect and unite people. Just as in today’s world, there is a critical need for social harmony both in the country and globally.

During the rule of King Agrasen, he encouraged every class to prosper and worked towards bringing everyone together by strengthening fiscal policies. Dr Sthapak further said that Maharaja Agrasen made a firm effort to establish the ideal rule of Lord Rama during his time, creating an atmosphere of happiness and prosperity under his leadership. Maa Lakshmi was his revered deity. Expressing views on the occasion, Professor Kaushal Dubey said Maharaja Agrasen was both Suryavanshi and Chandravanshi. Although his birth was in the Suryavansh, he harmoniously incorporated both lineages and introduced the concept of Samarasta, a path that unites the four main pursuits of life, i.e.

Dharma (righteousness), Artha (prosperity), Kama (desire) and Moksha (liberation). These four pursuits are interconnected and Maharaja Agrasen governed while upholding this philosophy. Today, the Agarwal community is following the path he laid out, guiding us on a journey of spiritual, economic, and social well-being. Highlighting the aim of the programme and Sangathan, Sandeep Jain, President of Sangathan, said it as an organisation formed by culturally aware youth, working towards the vision of creating an equitable and capable India through social service, under the motto of ‘Knowing and Respecting All’.
