Special Task Force (STF) and Garha police succeeded in apprehending a man and seized illegal stock of 5.27-kilograms gold jewellery worth Rs 3 crores at Tripuri Chowk late night on Sunday. The arrested has been identified as Saurabh Narendra Kumar Jain (38), a native of Sudama Nagar, Annapurna in Indore district. It may be noted that pointing out the forthcoming State Assembly Elections Superintendent of Police, Aditya Pratap Singh has directed all the gazetted officers and SHOs for checking of persons arriving in district at railway stations, bus stands and highways. He has also constituted a Special Task Force (SFT) for strict enforcement of election Model Code of Conduct for fair elections.
Continuing the campaign, police received information about a suspected man along with two bags reaching at Andhmuk by-pass through an auto-rickshaw and was asking about police checking in the city. Acting promptly on the information, police conducted barricading at Tripuri Chowk and started vehicle checking. During the checking, police stopped an auto-rickshaw ferrying the suspected man. In the checking of his two bags, police found stock of gold jewellery. The suspected man failed in presenting any kind of documents pertaining to transportation of gold jewellery. Taking a serious note, police detained the suspected man and seized the jewellery stock and immediately contacted the STF and Income Tax Department.
Acting on the information, STF and Income Tax officers reached the spot and found gold jewellery weighing around 5.274-kilograms carrying in 43 packets in eight plastic boxes amounting to Rs 3 crore. Illegal stock of gold jewellery was handed over to Income Tax Department for further investigation into the case. Illegal stock of gold jewellery was seized by Garha police led by SHO Brijesh Mishra and team members comprising SI Anil Kumar, Head Constable Bhupendra Patel, Constables Nikesh, Dharmendra, Ravisagar, Ashwini, Kamlesh, Ashish Pratap Singh, STF’s officer Shubham Biloria, Nitin Kumar Vishwakarma (Indian Geological Survey Officer), Tehsildar, Bharat Soni and Head Constable Suveg Patel.
