As the voting for Assembly elections is scheduled for November 7 in Madhya Pradesh, poll fever grips the locals representing various groups in Bhopal. Especially, education sector has lots of expectation with the new Government and they want a politician to address this issue of students as well as of teaching, non-teaching staff. While some people demanding a new face, the other want see a young leader ruling the State. ‘The Hitavada’ team interacted with people from different walks of the society and noted down their expectation with Assembly elections and what kind of Government formation they want to see. Some people said that they want the promises made by political leaders fulfill while others said that they want to see a fresh face in political parties. Universities and college students were also involved in the discussion about new Government and most of them said that they want to see a new young leader in ruling party who understand the problem of education sector. They said that at present education sector of MP is in poor condition. Prabhakar Mishra, City Incharge ABVP, says, “We want that the Assembly polls 2023 should be focused on policies instead of candidate. Leader who focus towards the overall development of youth should come to power. Our students are aware of everything happened in the past. Earlier schemes like Medhavi Chhatra Yojana was cancelled and proper fund was arranged for other schemes. road, water, electricity is common problem of all but Government has to pay attention towards the education.

Women safety is a burning issue for Madhya Pradesh and keeping view the same, Ladli Bahna Yojana, Ladli Lakshmi Yojana had worked a lot. Earlier, roads were filled with patches but today, there are many development work in State. Today, India has its own identity in global world.  Present Government has done ground level of work for women safety, youngsters, education, basic facilities and all group of our society. ” Ravi Parmar, State Co-ordinator of NSUI, says, “Upcoming Assembly elections bring more hope for the medical students of Madhya Pradesh. There are many issues that need to be addressed urgently. Medical students are burdened by the late academic sessions and high fees structure. There are thousand of nursing students who are stuck in their first year of graduation since last 3-4 years because their exams have not been conducted. Furthermore, more the overall fees of the medical students is very high, there’s strong demand for fees reduction or subsidy in the fees. This Government has paid little to no ear to the demands of the ordinary poor medical aspirant. You see with prolonged academic sessions and with students being forced to study 4 years of graduation degree in 7-8 years also increases their expense. For every month that they have to be in college and out of jobs financial burden is increasing and it’s becoming very difficult for the students to continue like this.”

Dr Prabhat Pandey, Secretary, MP Collegiate Professors’ Association , says “The Assembly polls brought many expectation and hope for us. We want to see many changes, especially in higher education sector. With the implementation of National Education Policy (NEP), changes are visible in our education system but there is more space to regulate our education system. Higher education sector is experiencing lack of qualitative teaching staffs especially in universities while maximum establishment of private universities has made the degree a centre of business. There is need to put curb on business of degrees. Vacancies of librarian are vacant in universities. I expect from upcoming Government to focus on proper set up of libraries and a State-level qualitative library open for all. At present, students are dependent in private libraries. Former Government had added in its vision to form a library rule but it could not be held yet. New subjects are being introduced but there are no faculties. Teaching staff are involved in non-teaching task which is deteriorating their skills.”
