Following the direction of Election Commission, the Police have on Thursday initiated thorough vehicle checking campaign right from the city to rural areas of the district, ensuring compliance with the Election Code of Conduct and maintaining security measures. Senior officials like CSP and SHOs are also monitoring vehicles to check for violations and questioning drivers of suspicious vehicles. Police personnel are inspecting roof of four wheelers for hooters, sirens, political emblems, organisation plates, black films and necessary documents. Similarly, two-wheelers with three riders and no registration number plate are being stopped and their documents are being demanded on the spot.
During the effective period of Model Code of Conduct for the Assembly elections, no one can make undue influence and exaggerate among the public. It is seen that many vehicles, both in urban and rural areas are displaying names and titles on number plates in large letters. Hence, the police is taking action against concerned persons. The police is doing vehicle checking in the morning and evening hours at designated points in the district border area, from 11 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm. During vehicle checks, CSP, DSP, SDO, SDPO including the Station House Officers will be present at the scene to prevent any dispute. Instructions have been given not to unnecessarily detain vehicles for a long time if elderly, sick, helpless, pregnant or with children are inside the vehicle. Police are also taking action against use of modified silences in two wheelers as the loud noise produced by modified silencers disorients other vehicle drivers and cause inconvinence to general public.
