burglaries and thefts continue unabated in the Second Capital with two more house break-ins reported from Beltarodi and Bajaj Nagar Police Station areas in which the thieves looted gold ornaments and other valuables collectively worth Rs 8.71 lakh. In the first incident that took place in Beltarodi area, Roshan Kallu Singh (58), a resident of Narendra Nagar (Manish Nagar Extension), locked his house and went to Meditrina Hospital, Ramdaspeth, where his wife was admitted for medical treatment. Grabbing opportunity, burglars targeted his house. On the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, they sneaked into the house after breaking the door lock. The miscreants collected gold ornaments and two wrist watches worth Rs 5.71 lakh from an almirah and decamped with the booty.

Similarly, a thief using the same modus operandi, burgled gold ornaments worth Rs three lakh from the bungalow of Nilesh Shankarrao Vairagade at Plot 72, Bajaj Nagar, in front of Matru Sewa Sangh College for Social Work on West High Court Road. Vairagade (57) had gone to meet his brother at Pen, district Raigarh. He had requested one Shankar Zodape, who was known to him, to look after his house. In his absence, Zodape used to sleep in the verandah and was in possession of keys to the main gate. Zodape noticed that a thief was fleeing from the house.

He checked and found that the burglar entered the house from the rear door and made away with the valuables. He immediately contacted Vairagade and informed him about it. Vairagade returned home on Sunday and was shocked to find gold ornaments worth Rs three lakh stolen from an almirah. Beltarodi and Bajaj Nagar Police registered separate cases under Sections 454,457,380 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigations are underway.
